    OSAP PREVENTIONIST ASSISTANT
    POSITION DESCRIPTION

     

    Rocky Mountain Youth Corps (RMYC) is a nonprofit youth development organization serving New Mexico. We inspire young adults to make a positive difference in themselves and their communities. Through training and service, Corpsmembers discover their potential for healthy, productive lives.


    Position Type: Contract position: 15-30hrs /wk. 50-week schedule, to be determined
    Salary:             Non-exempt, hourly, $14.00 - $16.00 per hour, depending on experience.
    Benefits:          Part-time benefits provided for in RMYC Staff Manual (if applicable)
    Reports to:       OSAP Preventionist

    Responsibilities

    MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

    Assist OSAP Preventionist in managing and monitoring day-to-day operations of the NM Office of Substance Abuse Prevention (OSAP) contract to reduce adult and youth DWI and binge drinking in Taos County including but not limited to:

    • Assist with RMYC data reporting by maintaining OSAP binder and data dashboard (monthly)
    • Organize Responsible Beverage Service trainings within the community 6-8 per year.
    • Work with local alcohol establishment on improving house policies. 3 per year
    • Visit all establishments in Town/County to invite and encourage participation in RBS.
    • Fall, Nov/Dec complete GIS (ground survey of local alcohol establishments) map. Update on data dashboard.
    • Collaborate with TA coalition to work with Town and County Council members on Outlet Density reduction, developing ordinances in relation to outlet density and preventative design.
    • Research weekly events and alcohol licenses up for approval.
    • Attend all town/county council meetings related to alcohol or preventative design
    • Attend DWI checkpoints. At least 2 per year
    • DJ Taos Talks, KNCE radio show. 2 per month. Organize guests and guest invites in coordination with Taos Alive 
    • Attend Monthly meeting, Taos Alive Alcohol Policy, Taos Alive Coalition Meeting, Taos Alive Media Work group, DWI council meeting, Alcohol Outlet Density meeting (via phone). File all agendas into OSAP binder

    OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Assist in data collection: Fall SFS, Spring NMCS
    • Assist Preventionist in coordinating and attending/setting up a booth/banner/presentation at community events. Including but not limited to the Taos Fiestas, The Paseo, TSV spring break event, Taos Plaza Live, Taos Pride, Regeneration Festival, Movies on the Green. Work with town on allowing a health booth at local concerts.
    • Submit required documenting paperwork in an efficient, accurate, and timely manner
    • Other duties as assigned

    Qualifications

    MINIMUM SKILLS REQUIRED

    • Ability to advocate in the community for the OSAP Program
    • Creativity in problem solving
    • Strong organizational skills
    • Strong computer skills, proficiency in word processing, power point, excel, audacity (or other related sound design program).
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to work in a cooperative with other community organizations working on similar projects with a positive attitude, including leading meetings when necessary
    • Must have a flexible schedule, willingness to travel for training and on occasion work nights/weekend to participate in various presentations and DWI checkpoints

     

    EDUCATION:

    College or vocational or technical training in related field preferred.  Four-year College preferred, but in exceptional cases, relevant work experience and willingness to learn new skill set may be substituted for part of the education requirement.  Will work toward certification of Prevention Specialist
