    Rocky Mountain Youth Corps (RMYC), located in NM, is a nonprofit youth development organization serving New Mexico.  Rocky Mountain Youth Corps is a steppingstone to new opportunities.     Position Type: Seasonal, full time, 8am-5pm M-F, May – August, with additional time as required by program schedule.

    Salary: Non-Exempt, hourly, $12.00 - $16.00, depending on experience.

    Benefits: All benefits as provided for in RMYC staff manual, after 60-day probationary period.

    Reports to: Training Manager


    POSITION PURPOSE: The Administrative Assistant will offer support to RMYC’s seasonal recruiting needs, HR and member file management, seasonal reporting, and CM training development/delivery .  Due to the seasonal increase in RMYC’s crew pattern, this position will support many aspects of RMYC programming. The Administrative Assistant will work closely with RMYC’s Training Department and Office Manager to accomplish the tasks associated with the position.








    • Recruiting


      • Work with the Training Department to review, edit and finalize position descriptions for all staff and member openings. Upload position descriptions to various websites.
      • Develop advertising plan (including print and digital media) for each community in which RMYC will be hiring a crew, and work with staff and partners to execute plan.
      • Manage application process and design interview schedules in each location.
      • Review, edit, and and support interview process.


    • File Management and Human Resources:


      • Work with RMYC’s Office Manager to prepare and maintain Member files in accordance state and federal regulations.
      • Audit member files to ensure accuracy and reach out to individual members to ensure file accuracy.
      • Copy and submit various forms to proper departments
      • Organize personnel files for proper storage


    • Reporting:


    • Support program staff in collecting Project Impact Forms and demographic information: entering them into a central Excel spreadsheet
    • Support program staff in preparing grant reports.


    • Training support:


      • Scheduling external trainers to support  the summer Training curriculum delivery
      • Support the planning and implementation of Education Week, and Rivers and Lands Service Day


    • Lesson plan development and delivery



    • Support Office Manager with answering phones and greeting guests
    • Support Program Managers and Coordinators with program tasks as needed.
    • Support Development Director in preparation for newsletters and Annual Fundraiser


    • Attend organizational Service Days and Graduations
    • Other duties as assigned.







    • Familiarity with general office software, particularly Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel
    • Knowledge of Northern New Mexico and Albuquerque areas, local community organizations, educational and training systems, public agencies and private industry.
    • Knowledge of basic HR functions and systems.



    • Minimum of 3 years’ experience working in an administrative capacity.
    • Experience working with young people ages 16 -25.
    • Experience conducting web base research, navigating employment portals, and general internet applications.
    • Experience working in a fast paced, team environment.


    • Exemplary organizational skills.  Attention to detail is required.
    • Ability to work with basic supervision, with strong initiative and good judgment.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
    • Good group facilitation skills.

    • College, vocational or technical training in education, youth development or a related field required.  Four-year college preferred, but in exceptional cases, relevant work experience may be substituted for all or part of the education requirement.


    Preferred Experience / Education / Certification:

    • Four-year degree or experience in a related field (non-profit management, HR, office management)
    • Bilingual: Spanish/English speaking preferred.


    Travel Requirements:


    • Frequent travel throughout northern New Mexico including the communities of: Questa, Taos, Penasco, Mora, Abiquiu, Bandelier, Espanola, Santa Fe, and Albuquerque.
    • Periodic overnight travel and non-traditional work hours, inclusive of weekend and evening hours.



    Physical Activities and Requirements


    • To successfully perform essential functions, the Administrative Assistant is required to sit, stand, walk, speak and hear. The Administrative Assistant may be required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl on an infrequent basis. He/she must be able to operate office equipment, telephone, and computer and reach with hands and arms. The Administrative Assistant may be required to lift up to 40 pounds unassisted. The ability to drive an organizational vehicle is also required. Reasonable accommodations will be made for qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.


    Other Considerations


    • Pre-employment background check will be required which may include the requirement that the applicant be fingerprinted for a FBI background check.  


    • Must have an insurable driving record and valid driver’s license.
    • RMYC staff are expected to participate in regular unpaid volunteer service activities 4 days per year.
